The Chile Pepper Approach to Exercise and Wellness!

Global Warming Salsa

Once upon a time in a small Midwestern community (not exactly a place where chile peppers run free), a Chilehead took it upon himself to play with his food. But in a good way. The result was the Global Warming Salsa company and our variety of Products & Baskets and the Salsa-of-the-month Club. But how did this whole craziness start?

Chilehead on a Mission

As any good Chilehead is likely to do, he enjoyed hundreds of different salsas, but started to notice a similarity from brand to brand. Unhappy with years of searching and tasting store bought salsas and hot sauces, he began a quest: a quest to find truly delicious, mouth watering salsas that may actually get people to stand up and take notice. Something distinctive, something fun, something good for the planet, and most importantly, something that makes your mouth cry and sing at the same time. A pretty tall order for a condiment, but not outside the realm of the possible. (Take that, ketchup!)

Steely-eyed and full of energy, he began his quest. His adventures took him to some of the places where salsa is a way of life, and he liked a lot of what he found. Flavorful, unique salsas featuring fresh ingredients; small batch salsa made in small batch kitchens (go figure), unusual pairings of flavors (watermelon and cactus.weird!), flame throwing peppers, garlic infused concoctions (he figures he is currently vampire-proof due to the high levels of garlic he has consumed), and more. His eyes were opened, but not all the way. (He was still a little squinty.)

It was an awful lot of work trying hundreds of different salsa combinations. He drove lots of miles but, since he is a car guy, that part was not a problem. The problem was not the search; it was how to bring these discoveries to other chileheads. He was aware of some of the problems facing his fellow chileheads: no time, gas prices too high, trial and error can be frustrating, driving 200 miles for a bottle of salsa not real cost-efficient (especially if you drive a lease.ouch!), once you do find it, how do you get more when you run out, etc. He got a small headache thinking of the potential problems he faced (although the headache could have been the result of all that squinting). And then it hit him: Sunglasses. (That took care of the squinting.) Then, another answer hit him: a great idea. No, wait -- make that a brilliant idea. Ok, maybe we will stick with a great idea (for now).

The Result: The Global Warming Salsa Company

A multi-angled approach to helping the world and their salsa related problems. First, the Global Warming Salsa Company Salsa-of-the-Month club: a monthly adventure in salsa where the unique and amazing are delivered right to your doorstep (or your mailbox). Every month will feature a pair of hard to find, specialty salsas. You get your choice of heat range (medium or hot), and we even have a program for gift baskets and gift memberships (for the Chilehead with good taste). There is one unique thing Salsa of the Month club members get to enjoy: they are first in line to try the newest Global Warming flavors, even before they hit the store shelves.

The coup-de-grace: Gourmet salsas, made right here in Michigan (stop laughing). Featuring gourmet ingredients from around the world and careful preparation, Global Warming Salsa is a fire roasted salsa line that has stood up to hundreds of taste tests. It is unique in its approach to salsa: Not only does the line have the usual suspects (mild, medium, hot, and our legendary Global Warming: End of the World Salsa), Global Warming will be introducing salsas with peppers and flavors unique to cuisines and cultures from around the world. ("Global" Warming...get it?)

Imagine a salsa featuring spices and peppers from Africa. China. Brazil. Spain. Italy. Japan. Mexico. All based on the taste-tested classic Global Warming Salsa.

This is not your everyday salsa! And we are not your everyday, normal salsa company. (For one thing, our mascot is named after a pepper -- definitely not normal. Her name is Cayenne, and she is our Keeshond!) We have plans to make a difference regarding the *other* Global Warming. (But not in a political way. Sorry, Al.)

A portion of the profits from the Global Warming Salsa Company will be used to fund an environmental education program for kids aged 8-12 (featuring Pobey and Pick!) It is illustrated, and designed to be fun to read. It will take kids on a worldwide journey to see where food comes from, where energy comes from, how things are made, and what we can do to keep our planet happy for their future.

Also, some of the proceeds will be used to help the non-profit program called SavetheMusclecar.com (soon to be brought online). As a fan of classic cars and of all things automotive, we want to see classic cars stay on the road. We are working to develop a website that will keep car enthusiasts up to speed on pending legislation regarding their classic cars, information on E85 and other alternative fuels (hey, our oil supply is not going to last forever -- we may need to think ahead!), technical information on converting classic cars to E85 (lowers emissions, reduces our dependence on imported oil, and puts renewable 100-octane race quality gas in the tanks of our classic cars.for much less than racing gas), cruise night and special event info, and more.
